DR. LOUIS SCOMA

Long Island native and practicing chiropractor since 1979, Dr. Louis Scoma began his professional chiropractic career after earning his Associate of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He attended the New York Chiropractic College, where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1979. Dr. Scoma began treating patients at Mineola Chiropractic in New York and later located to Florida, where he’s been practicing at Scoma Chiropractic since 1988.

Dr. Scoma proudly offers a comprehensive array of services which are derived from his many care specialties. He regularly treats patients with a variety of chiropractic adjustment procedures and physical medicine. Comprehensive nutrition guidance and supplement programs are also available as part of his complete wellness care.

Dr. Scoma is fully trained in Manipulation under Anesthesia (MUA) and Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM). His training has also included the following techniques: Diversified, Full Spine, Activator, Trigger Point Therapy, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) and COX Disc Reduction.

Dr. Scoma’s additional qualifications include an Independent Medical Examiner Certification since 1990, a certification in Impairment Rating from Kaplan Seminars, Master Program completion in Whiplash at the Spine Research Institute in 1992, and a Board Certification in Anti-Aging Medicine in 1999. He has held professional licensure in New York and currently in State of Florida since 1979.

Dr. Scoma has been associated with many professional organizations, including New York Chiropractic, Florida Chiropractic, Tri-County Chiropractic, Accident and Industrial Industry Associates, Focus, Aetna PPO, and Affordable Health Care, American Specialty Health. His many committee appointments have included state appointed Delegate of the New York Chiropractic Committee, Director and Secretary of the Nassau County Chiropractic Committee, Co-Chairman of the New York Chiropractic Council on Industrial Relations, as well as Secretary and two term President of the Tri-County Chiropractic Association.

From 1989 through 1991, Dr. Scoma served as the guest speaker for Joint Symposium on Chiropractic and Medicine. He has been an Expert Medical Advisor for the Division of Worker’s Compensation. He was the President of Associates In Managed Healthcare, Inc. which was a chiropractic IPA.


Dr. Scoma’s vast qualifications, experience, and high level of patient care has earned him much recognition by his peers and the communities he’s served. He has been honored with the Award for Outstanding Service Contribution by the Nassau County Chiropractic Association, Tri-County Chiropractic Association Award for Presidency, and the 1991-92 AIIA Award for Best Treatment Average. He is the co-author of the book Carb Busters and author of The Trojan Horse Deception which deals with the Patriot Act.

Dr. Scoma regularly gives presentations on back problems and injury prevention to many local business and organizations, some of which have included the Police Academy of Southwest Florida, TWA, United Airlines, Lee County Fire Department of Southwest Florida Airport, Lee County Port Authority, Lee County School Board, City of Cape Coral, Food and Nutrition Services of Lee County, Ft Myers Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, United Parcel Service, Cape Coral Country Club, Denny’s Restaurant of Cape Coral. He is available for free on-site health talks regarding spinal health, and overall wellness and welcomes the opportunity to work with your organization.

Dr. Scoma is affiliated with the following Workers’ Compensation Panels: BC/BS PPC, State of Florida, Lee County School Board, Aetna, Gallagher Basset, GAB Insurance, CIGNA, Principal, Focus, Lee County Board of Commissioners and others.
